题目:The High Sensitivity Microwave Receiver for Radio Astronomy Detection

摘要:Microwave detection is the primary observation technique and plays an important role in radio astronomy. The Deep Synoptic Array (DSA) is a world-leading radio telescope system whose primary scientific objective is to search for extragalactic fast radio bursts. The DSA extends over an area about 2.5 km long and consists of 110 radio telescope elements, each with an aperture diameter of 4.65 m. The DSA provides high detection sensitivity. Each telescope of the array includes a radio dish antenna, a high-sensitivity receiver, and a powerful digital processing backend. The high-sensitivity microwave receiver of the DSA has a noise temperature of about 25 K and an aperture efficiency of about 65%. The receiver mainly consists of a dual polarization feed, a low noise amplifier for each polarization, a front-end transmitter box for each polarization, and a back-end receiver box that processes signals from both polarizations. A much wider bandwidth receiver is currently under development for the DSA-2000 array, a next-generation array that will consist of 2000 5m diameter dishes.



简历:Jun Shi is a professor at the National Space Science Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and a recipient of a CAS Young Talent program. His research has focused on high-sensitivity microwave detection technologies. He has led projects under the National Key R&D Program of China. He is also a core member for the Fengyun-4 microwave satellite mission. Previously, he was responsible for the development of a major scientific instrument system funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). He has published more than 30 SCI-indexed papers. He developed the receiver system for the Deep Synoptic Array (DSA). He also developed an ultra-wideband millimeter-wave solar radio telescope on the Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.
